Background
García de los Salmones (1914) cittala as cultivated in the provinces of Lugo and Ourense and in the area of Caldas de Rei in the province of Pontevedra. In the Viticultural Cadastre of 1983 it is indicated how it is present in the provinces of A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and Pontevedra. Genetic súaorixe is the lineage originated in Merenzao (Díaz-Losada et al., 2010).
Current situation
It is recognized as a preferred variety in DD. OO Ribeiro, Ribeira Sacra, Valdeorras and Monterrei, and as authorized by DEL RíasBaixas. Also it is contemplated for the elaboration of wines in the geographical indications Wines of the Terra Barbanza and Iria, Valley of the Miño and Betanzos.
Ratings about your crop
Variety of sprouted and medium ripening; high production and medium-low vigor; sensitive to powdery mildew, moderately to mildew and high to botrite. It produces wines of high oenological potential, with graduations that can vary depending on the area between 11 and 14% v / v, and acidity between 4-6 g / L. The wines with violet tones possess a medium-high aromatic intensity, with fruity aromas, to blond fruits, framboesa, strawberry, blackberry and with certain lactic touches. With good quality on the palate, persistent, with sweet edges, highlighting the soft and pleasant tannins.
Morphological description
