Background

García de los Salmones (1914) cittala as cultivated in Pobra do Caramiñal (A Coruña) and in Las Nieves (Pontevedra). In the Viticultural Cadastre of 1983 it is indicated as cultivated in the province of A Coruña and in that of Pontevedra. This cultivar has its origin in CaíñoBravo (Díaz-Losada et al., 2010, 2011).

Current situation

It is a variety of the IXP Ribeiras do Morrazo. It is also recognized as an authorized variety in the DEL Monterrei and as a preferred in the DD. OO.Rías Baixas, Ribeiro, Ribeira Sacra and Valdeorras.

Ratings about your crop

Variety of early sprouts and late maturation; high production in relation to Albariño; sensitive to botrytis and moderately sensitive to powdery mildew. It produces wines that are not very alcoholic (9.5-11.5% v / v) and of high acidity (7.7-9.5 g / L) and low pH (2.9-3). The wines have a very high aromatic intensity, with aromas of laurel, muscatel, fruit compote and white flowers. In the mouth, it has little body and a predominance of acidic edges. It is adapted for the elaboration in mixture with other varieties; Due to its high terpene content it marks the wines that carry this variety incorporated. It is recommended in mixtures not to exceed 10%.
