CERTIFICATION SYSTEM. PROCESSES FOR THE OBTAINING OF THE ELABORATED VIÑA CONTRA LABORATORY UNDER THE PROTECTED GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION.

The denomination of quality Protected Geographical Indication Ribeiras del Morrazo, has as main objective to protect the wines elaborated in its geographical area, which by themselves have qualities derived from their origin but that also have specific quality attributes, derived from the fulfillment of their Specification of Conditions, and that go beyond the obligatory quality requirements, distinguishing and guaranteeing the authenticity of the same when implementing a control system that provides confidence to the buyer. The certification also allows their wines to differentiate themselves, being a key factor of positioning for consumers, and a competitive advantage in the selection of products for export. The hallmark of the certification is the "counter-label" of the IXP Ribeiras del Morrazo

WHAT DOES THE COUNTER-LABEL TELL US?

The bottles of wine that carry the counter-label of the Protected Geographical Indication Ribeiras del Morrazo offer the consumer: the guarantee of that protected area, the production of wine and its quality. The counter-label guarantees the consumer that what is going to be found in the bottle is what is announced, because it is ensuring that: The. The vineyard where the grapes were obtained is covered by the IXP Ribeiras del Morrazo, and therefore the care of the strains, the cultivation and the obtaining of the grapes used for that wine was made in accordance with the regulations in its Specifications. WHAT OPERATORS INTERVENE IN THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS?

In the process of IXP certification, both the operators involved in the winemaking process and the administration entity responsible for checking and controlling are involved:

For each operator, both the duties and the process to be followed are indicated in order to finally obtain a wine certified by the IXP Ribeiras del Morrazo. By limiting the participation of each operator (which in many cases is the same) the process is presented individually, but it must be borne in mind that the certification procedure is unique, guaranteeing the traceability of all the sub-processes: from grape production until the placing of the purchased of the bottle labeled with an IXP wine.

1. VITICULTURAL PERSONS

WHAT REQUIREMENTS SHOULD BE FULFILLED?

The main obligations of winemakers, for the production of grapes eligible to be certified in the process of making wines certified by the IXP, are:

  • Have the vineyards registered and updated in the Galician Viticulture Registry (RVG)
  • Declaration of production under the IXP
  • Have the proof of the sale of the products
  • Fully complete the exploitation notebook
  • Declare the grape harvest

2. ELABORATING BOOKS

WHAT REQUIREMENTS SHOULD BE FULFILLED?

The main duties of the wineries, for the elaboration of wines to be certified by the IXP, are:

  • Be registered in the Registry of Agrifood Industries, in the Galician Sanitary Registry of Companies and Food Establishments (REGASA) and have all the necessary administrative and legal authorizations
  • Communicate the start date of the harvest (7 days in advance)
  • Communicate the end of the harvest (max 48 H) Declaration of grape entry and wine production (before December 10)
  • Specific accounting for the wines and products used Annual inventory of existence
  • Sending to the Galician Agency of Food Quality (AGACAL) a copy of the sheets of the books of entries and exits of wines (before September 1)

3. BOTTELRS.

The main duties of bottling companies are:

  • Be registered in the Bottler Register, and have all the necessary administrative and legal authorizations
  • Specific accounting for IXP wines and the products used
  • Sending quarterly to the AGACAL the copy of the sheets of the bottling tickets and exits with the data closed campaign (before September 1)

4. AXENCIA GALEGA DE CALIDADE ALIMENTARIA (AGACAL).
